Teaching teen-agers what to do in the event of a life-threatening emergency
was the focus of an unprecedented, comprehensive five-day training program sponsored
June 15-19, 2009, by the Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn
Fund for Children’s Advocacy, also known as HKQ Kids, in conjunction with the American Red Cross.
The program – the first weeklong program of its kind to be offered by the Red Cross –
provided instruction to 13 teen-agers in “Be Red Cross Ready” training, first aid, adult CPR, infant CPR, pet first aid, babysitter training, and water safety. The
program was hailed by organizers and
participants as a great success, and we
have included a few of the wonderful
thank you notes we received from the
participating teens. The entire cost of
the program was subsidized by HKQ Kids.
